On a long drive today, I listened to all 42 minutes of The New York Times’ interview with Yair Lapid—the official leader of Israel’s opposition party, and a fierce critic of Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership.
Throughout the fascinating interview, Lapid states and states again that peace will never be possible while Bibi’s government rules.
I felt lifted by this interview, not because I agree with Lapid’s every point—I don’t, and I doubt you will, either—but because he and his interviewer (the relentlessly sharp Lulu Garcia-Navarro) spar over the ugliest of issues with uncommon grace.
Nuance instead of reductionism, intelligent discourse rather than dehumanizing venom—this is the kind of dialog that will lead us out of darkness.
I hope you enjoy my musical exploration of these themes in Noise #149:
Wishing you peace,
Michael
