Noise #162: Paul McCartney's birthday and blessing
The ever-touring icon is glue in a fractured world.
Today is Paul McCartney’s 82nd birthday. And two days ago, the former Beatle announced new stadium tour dates in Europe.
I’ve never marked anyone’s birthday via Current Dissonance before, but this is good news worth celebrating.
Music builds bridges where politics, economics, and religious schisms explode them. And Sir Paul is one of the most universally beloved ambassadors we have. A single musician will never repair the world’s fractures—but anyone who gathers tens of thousands to sing timeless songs of love and resilience is walking the right line.
I love that McCartney is touring at an age where society often says you’re done. I’ve never gotten the sense that he does it to fill inner holes or bloat his net worth; instead, he seems to perform simply because he adores making and sharing music. At any age, may we all be blessed to do the same.
I recorded Noise #162 thinking about McCartney’s creative legacy and knack for bringing people together despite stark and jagged differences. I hope you enjoy listening.
Wishing you peace,
Michael
